Where to find Moon Valley.

Moon Valley centers on its country club in Phoenix. This guide follows the neighborhood association’s area: south and east of Coral Gables Drive, west of 7th Street and generally north of Thunderbird Road. The southern edge has a few turns, so use the association’s map or subdivision list for an exact address.

Lookout Mountain, restaurants near Thunderbird and the 7th Street/Greenway stops add to a visit. They are labeled nearby when outside the association’s area. Start with 85023 for a home search around the club, then check the actual street address.

The golf story behind Grille 59.

Moon Valley grew around the country club in the 1960s. Golf remains part of its identity, alongside the public park and resident-led traditions.

Annika Sorenstam shot 59 here at the 2001 Standard Register PING tournament. The club’s Grille 59 takes its name from that round. It is a memorable piece of golf history tied to the neighborhood.

The private club offers golf, tennis, pickleball, fitness, a pool and social activities. Check current membership and guest policies before planning a visit.

A quick look at the homes.

Golf-course-facing homes, interior residential streets and the Valle de Luna townhome community offer different ways to explore Moon Valley. Its development began in the 1960s, with later homes and changes adding to the mix.

Decide what you would enjoy most: a course setting, outdoor space or a route to the public park. Tour homes in more than one part of the area to see how the setting changes. Living near the club does not include membership.

05 / COMMUNITY RHYTHM

Christmas lights, Halloween displays and park gatherings.

The neighborhood calendar gives Moon Valley a life beyond the golf course. Resident volunteers help organize events and welcome newcomers. In fall, the association’s “13 Homes of Halloween” contest gives decorating fans another reason to watch its updates.

Moon Valley Christmas lights: an annual neighborhood tradition.

December deserves a spotlight of its own. Moon Valley’s annual Christmas-light tradition includes the “12 Homes of Christmas” competition, with participating residents creating themed displays and colorful light shows. It gives you a reason to plan a holiday evening around the neighborhood, whether you are exploring the area or returning for another look.

Phoenix New Times describes the competition as an annual tradition, and December 2025 AZFamily reporting also covered decorated homes and a neighborhood light parade. Follow the neighborhood association for the next participant list, viewing information and parade announcement. The 2026 dates and route have not been confirmed for this guide. Keep driveways clear and enjoy displays from public streets and sidewalks.

WESD recognized students from Lookout Mountain Elementary and Mountain Sky Junior High in its 2025–2026 assessment announcement. They earned perfect scores on two state assessments. This celebrates those students; it is not a schoolwide rating. Verify attendance areas separately for a home you are considering.
